About the SILMA & its Purpose


SILMA – South India Lead Manufacturers Association, It is a newly formed Association with various objectives in meeting out the demands and Challenges of the Lead Manufacturing Industry in India. The SILMA comprises of 50 Lead Recycling units from 5 Southern states Kerala, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana. The Total recycling Capacity of SILMA Members is around 7.5 Lakh Tons per Annum which is almost equal to 40% of Indian demand. The Total Business Revenue from SILMA members to the Government of India is around 7500 Crores per annum approx.

The Main Objectives of the Association

  • To Represent Governmental & Non-Governmental Organization on behalf of Lead Manufacturer for the Well being of the Lead Manufacturing Industry.
  • To Eradicate Pollution Control Board Unauthorized Smelters creating unhealthy Situation in the Lead Manufacturing Field.
  • To Eradicate Tax Evaders following Fraudulent Practices putting Genuine Scrap Vendors and Lead Recycling Industry ITC into Stake.
  • To develop Healthy Purchase & Sale practices among the Scrap Dealers, Lead Manufacturers, and Battery Manufacturing Company.
  • To Create Awareness on Healthy Environment Health & Safety practices in Lead Manufacturing Industry.
  • To Develop PAN India Practices in Lead Recycling Industry.

About Lead Manufacturing Operation

We are Lead Manufacturing Units involved in Recycling of Domestic & Imported Raw Material such as Lead Acid Battery Scraps, Lead Scraps, Crude Lead & other Lead bearing scraps and Manufactures Pure/Refined Lead, Lead Alloy, and Oxides and Lead-Based products to the Battery Manufacturing Industry. The Indian Battery Manufacturing Industry needs 1.8 Million Tonnes of Lead per Annum of which 45% is been Imported as Lead, Crude Lead & Lead Bearing Scraps and gets Recycled and supplied to Battery manufacturing Industry.
